Lessons From Traditional Plant Knowledge

Archival herbarium folios and traditional botanical research reference books

Rediscovering Ancient Observations

Before the advent of laboratory science, traditional communities documented the protective properties of local plants through centuries of observation. From the use of neem smoke in ancient India to the application of cedar shavings in early American structures, traditional knowledge holds a wealth of botanical insight.

The OFF Project seeks to bridge this traditional wisdom with modern scientific validation. By testing ancient plant remedies in our laboratory, we can identify the active molecules responsible for their efficacy and refine them into modern, stable formulations.

The Sanskrit Botanical Archive

Our research team has translated classical Sanskrit archives detailing natural root and leaf preparations. By verifying these traditional plant classifications using contemporary gas chromatography, we are rediscovering forgotten pathways of natural protection.
